Fake doctor bags three-year jail term

ABEOKUTA-An  Ogun State  Magistrate’s court 1, sitting in  Isabo, Abeokuta, Monday,  sentenced  a 27-year-old fake medical  doctor, Monday Philips,  to three years imprisonment  without the option  of fine for forgery, fraud and  stealing.

The Chief Magistrate, Adebola  Adenarinwo, who delivered  the judgment, said evidence before  the court had  shown  that the accused  person  was a fake medical  doctor and guilty of the  three count charge brought against him by the state prosecution.

While ruling on the matter, the Magistrate said the allegation levied against the accused person of forging masters and first degree certificates, which he claimed to obtain from  the Universities of Ibadan and Ilorin in 2009 was true.

Magistrate Adenarinwo  noted that the accused person was guilty of the offence  and he  paraded a  fake  National Youth Service Corps, NYSC discharge certificate.

The accused was also charged for tendering fake secondary school certificate, which was discovered after a visit to the secondary school he allegedly attended in Abeokuta.

According to the Magistrate, the offences were punishable under criminal law. For the third count, the court slammed a one year jail term on him for fraud while working in two hospitals in Abeokuta before his arrest.

All the charges, according to Magistrate Adenarinwo, would run concurrently and without the option of fine.
Vanguard however learnt that, the fake doctor was arrested February 13, by operatives of State Security Service, SSS, following a complaint by the owner of one of the hospitals the accused had worked as head medical doctor.
