KWARA State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed has commiserated with the national leadership and the entire family of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), on the death of Kano State correspondent of Channels Television, Mr. Enenche Akogwu, who was killed in the multiple explosions that rocked Kano city while on official duty.

The governor in a condolence message to the NUJ, management of Channels Television, the Kano and Benue State governments as well as the immediate family of the slain reporter, said he received the news of the bombings with heavy hearts and prayed God to put an end to this ugly development in our nation’s political history.

Alhaji Ahmed, who described last Friday’s multiple blasts in Kano city as a monumental loss, urged Nigerians to respect the sanctity of human life while expressing their grievances, saying the ugly incident called for greater concern and sober reflection.

The governor, however, urged media practitioners and security operatives not to allow the current security challenges in the country to deter them from further performing their social responsibilities.

He also appealed to all stakeholders in the Nigerian project to return to the negotiation table in the collective interest of our dear country so that we can find lasting peace to the current problem of insecurity in a record time.

The governor expressed hope that the problem could be resolved amicably without necessarily resulting in violence as negotiation he said, remains the only viable alternative to the present security challenges that we are currently grabbling with.

He equally called on the country’s religious leaders in churches and mosques as well as the entire Nigerians to turn to God and ask for His mercies over us so that the unity and corporate existence of Nigeria would not be threatened.
