…Says Ganduje should resign as National Chair APC

Arewa leader Alhaji Musa Saidu has advised the embattled immediate past governor of Kogi state, His Excellency Yahaya Bello to face his investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC without making any issue about it.

Saidu spoke when he read that the former governor was initially reluctant to surrender himself to the commission when its men stormed his Abuja residence for him.

He said if a crossdresser Bobrisky could be arrested and tried in the country by the commission for spraying naira notes at a public function then there should be no sacred cows before the commission and the laws of the land.

Saidu also appealed to President Bola Tinubu not to intervene in the job of the commission when top politicians from his All Progressives Congress, APC, were being investigated by the anti-graft agency or any other.

He further urged the former governor to submit himself for thorough investigation by the commission, stressing that only those with something to hide try to evade the commission.

Saidu said that the invitation extended to the former governor by the anti-graft agency did not in any way amount to conviction, adding that only those convicted by the agency in proper court can be labeled a criminal.

“It was all over in the media yesterday that the EFCC encircled the Abuja residence of the former governor of Kogi state Alhaji Yahaya Bello. The former governor should not panic and he should go through the process of trial initiated by the commission. Only the guilty fear the law.

“I am also calling on the President not to interfere, the EFCC is an independent body, so it should be allowed to do its job, no matter who is involved.

EFCC will not convict anyone that is innocent. The call on the former governor by the anti-graft agency to appear before it is not a conviction, it is only a process of investigation. An accused person is deemed innocent until it is proven guilty.

“A young man dressing as a woman was convicted for spraying naira. So there should be no sacred cows. EFCC is doing a good job. Immunity is no more for any former governor, they all should take their turns to explain some of their actions when invited by anti-graft agencies.”

Saidu also called on the embattled National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Alhaji Umar Ganduje to honourably resign his position to face the criminal charge brought against him in court.

Saidu said it was not proper for Ganduje to carry on as national Chairman of the party with the charges he was facing in court.

He recalled that he had earlier in several media outlets called on Ganduje to resign as national Chairman of the party when the criminal allegations against him started in court.

“You remember the last time, I said Ganduje had a lot of baggage he was carrying that was not good for the party in his capacity as National Chairman. Ganduje should resign to go and face his case.

“He can’t be appearing in court over a criminal issue and be functioning as National Chairman. We have not said he is guilty until proven, but Mr President should relieve him of his position. For his good and that of the party he should resign.”, he said.
