THE Enugu Capital Territory Development Authority, ECTDA, has alleged that some developers in the state who claim to be “investors” parade fake documents to secure approval plans.

Chairman of ECTDA, Hon Uche Anya gave an instance of a purported “investor” he accused of using an entirely different Certificate of Occupancy, C of O, to obtain approval for Entertainment center in an entirely different location in the state capital.

Addressing newsmen, on Thursday, Anya said: “It is very disheartening that despite all we have done, we are still facing challenges in our development control, we have some unscrupulous developers who called themselves investors, sabotaging our master plan, corrupting the system we are setting up for international transparency standard.

“We have discovered that some of the distortions we are having to deal with are actually product of fraud, we have instances where people have fraudulently procured approvals using certificate of a different district

“Our great concern is a particular night club in independence layout which used a land title of a property in different location and pass it as a property in independence layout and they are parading an approval; on top of that they went out on their way and constructed a building that were not approved and we also have some other illegal building too like that.

“These people are parading fake approval, distorting our place, threatening our bridges, we cannot afford to have another collapsed bridges in Enugu so we must save our bridges and  bring an end to the activities of these fraudsters.”

He re-assured all investors that the state is ready and open for business, and encouraged all investors that want to make Enugu state the preferred business based to come and invest.

“Enugu is home for all and this is what Governor Peter Mba’s administration is committed to. When will talk about $30b investment drive for Enugu,  it’s not a joke and the Governor is not joking about it as you can see the massive infrastructural development in the state.

“We pay attention to ease of doing business in Enugu.  For instance our taxation has been harmonized and now we have zero tolerance for multiple taxation. We have eliminated corruption completely from our system. As at today it’s actually a crime to make cash transaction in Enugu as all payment must be captured by our IGR,” Anya stated.
