Arrangements are in top gear to relocate the Police Headquarters, Federal Prisons and Imo State University, Owerri.
Governor Rochas Okorocha, disclosed this while delivering the account of his stewardship to newsmen in his Ogboko, Ideato South local council area country home.“Arrangements are in top gear to relocate the State Police Headquarters. Government is also planning to relocate the Federal Prisons at no cost to the federal government to a more convenient place, as well as expand and modernize the facilities”, Okorocha said.
While saying that his administration has, in the past seven months, saved about N10 billion from cost saving measures he adopted since coming on board, Okorocha also revealed that he saved N4 billion from security votes.
The Governor announced that his administration will build 10 new industries, which will be centred on food processing and agriculture in the state, adding that Nsu Tiles Factory, Clay Products Factory, Ezinnachi and Modern Shoe Industry, Owerri, will soon be fully functional.
“Imo Palm Plantation, which was previously comatose, has already yielded N2.2 billion. The new management of the plantation paid the state government up front. Soon, the company will engage about 2,500 jobless youths”, Okorocha said.
Answering another question, Okorocha said that he has started building a new Executive Council Chambers, Deputy Governor’s Office, the First Lady’s Office and the Expanded Executive Council Chambers.
