Fashola tasks council bosses on service delivery

BY MONSUR OLOWOOPEJO

IKEJA – Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State, yesterday, charged the 57 chairmen of local governments and local council development areas, LCDAs, to be up and doing in discharging their responsibilities to the residents of the state.

Fashola, who gave the charge at the opening ceremony of a three-day Joint Induction Course for Good Governance at the local government level in the state, added that they should  embark on projects that would impact meaningfully on the lives of residents in their areas.

He emphasised that people at the local government level were supposed to feel the impact of good governance directly through the councils instead of waiting endlessly for state government to provide the needed facilities.

Fashola said: “The significance of the course is to retrain, refresh, and exchange ideas and experiences with each other on ways to improve service delivery to the people in their domains.”
