LAGOS – Senior officers of the Nigerian Navy have been urged to live up to their responsibilities by checkmating activities of their subordinates, with a view to stopping them from conducts capable of portraying  the image of the service in bad light.

Flag Officer Commanding Western Naval Command, Rear-Admiral Emmanuel Ogbor, gave this charge at a workshop on Civil-Military Relations.

The workshop, he explained, became necessary following recent publications on the conduct of naval personnel, which he said was unhealthy to the image of the service.

He stressed the need for ratings of the service to exercise restraint in their dealings with civilians, reminding them that no one was above the law

Ogbor said: “If for instance someone assaults your wife or even fights you, please, exercise some restraints by reporting the incident to the police rather than acting otherwise. Your conduct should always be channeled towards positing the image of the service in a positive light.”
