Imasuagbon to Oshiomhole: We’ve no plans to rig 2012 polls

By SIMON EBEGBULEM
BENIN—GOVERNORSHIP aspirant of Peoples Democratic Party, PDD, in Edo State, Mr Kenneth Imasuagbon, yesterday, faulted the allegation by Governor Adams Oshiomhole that the PDP had perfected plans to rig the forthcoming July 14, 2012 governorship election in the state.

While describing the allegation as laughable, Imasuagbon recalled that he was a founding member of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, but that Oshiomhole and some leaders of the party manipulated the process and denied him and others the ticket of the party in 2007.

He said: “What is hunting Oshiomhole today is what he did to some of us after he joined the ACN. Some of us laboured for the party but he came and manipulated the process and took the ticket. I want to tell him that the PDP is ready to win thecoming elections. The new PDP in Edo State is not like the ACN that rigged election in Akoko Edo, Etsako Central and Ovia.

“I know that by the special grace of God I will emerge as the PDP flag bearer and I will tell Oshiomhole that rigging is over in Edo State. When you come to look at it, all those who destroyed the name of PDP, who were riggers are now in ACN. PDP today in Edo State has been purged and therefore doesn’t believe in rigging.
