Guinness commissions water project in Enugu

Guinness Nigeria Plc has commissioned the water of life project in Enugu State. The Head of  Responsibility, Guinness, Mrs. Adrianne Nwagwu said the building of  Water of Life Project was  an integral part of the company’s  corporate citizenship agenda.

“The Water of Life project is part of the company’s contribution to resolving the global concern of accessibility to clean drinking water in line with the United Nations Millennium Development Goals for 2015. I am delighted that this promise has come to fruition” she said.

Nwagwu further said that the firm had always been a responsible citizen that upheld the best business practices in this country. According to her, the use of local contractors is another confirmation of the firm’s belief in the ability of Nigerians to handle such highly skilled jobs.

She added that as a result of the use of local contractors many jobs were created and businesses enhanced. The State’s Commissioner of Water Resources, Engr. Ajah who commissioned the project said the project which located at Nsude on the outskirts of Enugu, commended the project.

According to him, the action of the firm is a confirmation of what is possible when the private sector works with government. According to him, government believes that a critical development factor is when the private sector joins hand with government to develop the community.

Earlier, Engr. Ajah had stated that the public private partnership has yielded development for the community. His words, “This water project is very timely. The benefits of good, clean water cannot be over emphasised. We are thankful to Guinness Nigeria for this gesture and will ensure this project is will properly managed so we can continue to enjoy good water for year to come”.
