Youths in the country have been urged to acquire basic Information and Communication Technology, ICT, skills in order to prepare themselves for global competitiveness.

An educationist, Mr.  Sunday Oladapo, who gave the advice in Enugu, said acquiring such skills would integrate them into the mainstream of education and training.

Oladapo, an educationist at the University of Nigeria Nsukka, who disclosed this at  a technical vocational training workshop in Enugu, noted that ICT supports the professional development of schools through in-service training.

He said: “ICT is pertinent to vocational education and training in modern society. So schools and colleges should be provided with basic machines, equipment and other skills.”

This is only possible when the practitioners are supplied with needed facilities and salable skills through technical vocational education training.”
