Funtua (Katsina State) – Funtua Unit Command of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Katsina State on Wednesday handed over N2.4 million recovered at  the scene  of an  accident  to the victims, owners of the cash.

Presenting the cash along with other valuables also recovered from the accident scene, the Unit Commander, Mr Betara Umar, said the accident occurred on  Nov. 7, at Kanon Haki village in Faskari Local Government Area.

Umar said six persons were involved in the accident involving a Toyota car with registration number, AE 723 TBW.

He said  the victims were transported to Funtua General Hospital but that one Muhammad Abdullahi died while receiving treatment.

The commander said the victims were livestock sellers from Deidei Market in Abuja, who were  on their way to Zurmi local government in Zamfara after  concluding their businesses during Sallah festivals.

According to him, the driver might have lost control and the car ran into the bush and hit a tree.

He said  that the unit’s rescue team responded immediately  following  a tip off and evacuated the victims.

The unit commander appealed to road users to always adhere to safety tips, keep their vehicles in top form and imbibe proper driving culture.

He said the goal of achieving accident free roads should be a collective responsibility of all.

Responding on behalf of the victims, Alhaji Musa Mairago, expressed appreciation to the  FRSC efforts and urged them to sustain  their transparent dealings.

Mairago said none of their valuables was lost, stressing that they have collected them all from FRSC officers and enjoined other agencies to emulate the commission for the development of the nation.(NAN)
