With a few games to end the 2011/2012 Nigeria Premier League,NPL season, former Super Eagles forward, Jonathan Akpoborie has called on the Nigeria Football Federation ,NFF and the NPL to focus more on developing the domestic league in order to have a better structure alongside better league next season .

In a chat with Inside Out Premier League in Calabar, the former Julius Berger player, expressed sadness over the poor state of the country’s football and the league in particular.

He said, “If our league is in a good shape, we won’t be having problems in our football,” adding that coaching is never the country’s problem but a bad foundation and a disorganized structure.

“Coaching is not the problem of our football but the way we groom our players. Our cannot be compared with other leagues in the world.

“We are supposed to always rely solely on players from the local league and the grass-roots when we have difficulties as it is done in other countries. It is glaring that we have not done our home work.

Bringing Keshi for Siasia makes no difference in the senior team’s job. When you bring another coach we will still have same problem. The system is very bad and until we see it from that perspective, we will remain where we are,” Akpoborie said.
