Sokoto—Ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir festivity, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, in Sokoto State, says it has deployed its officers and men to ensure security in the state.

NSCDC State Commandant, Alhaji Aminu Soro, said plain- clothes security officers  would be on foot patrol in Sokoto metropolis to ensure peaceful coexistence among the people of the state.

Soro told the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, in Sokoto, Friday, that measures had been adopted by the command to beef up security in the state.

The commandant said officers at the local government areas had been briefed on security method to be taken in their areas of jurisdiction.

He said operational order had been issued to the officers as part of the security strategies to ensure peace in the state.

He said: “We will do all that we can to promote peace for the overall political growth of our state.”

“We will continue to fashion new security measures aimed at enhancing the peace that the seat of the Caliphate is known for.”

Soro said that the tactics would enable the people to continue with their normal activities without intimidation or harassment from men of the underworld.

He called for more support from the members of the public by coming out with useful information that could lead to the arrest and prosecution of criminals in the state.
