4 sisters in court for stabbing neighbour

Asaba – The Police in Asaba on Tuesday arraigned four sisters, Onyeka Ochonogor, 17, Joy Ochonogor, 25, Udoka Ochonogor, 20 and Chinenye Ochonogor, 32  before an Asaba Magistrates’ Court charged with stabbing their neighbour.

The accused persons are facing a three-count charge of assault, damage and attempted murder in the court.

The Police Prosecutor, Mr Faith Esenwah, told the court that the accused persons committed the offence on Oct. 9 at No. 4 Chief Nwobodo Street, Asaba.

Esenwah also told the court that the accused persons on the same day and place assaulted one Miss Queen Oliaye by stabbing her with a broken bottle on her left shoulder, causing her body harm.

He said that the offence contravened section 355 of the Criminal Code C21 Vol.1 Laws of Delta State, 2006.

Esenwah also told the court that the accused persons on the same day and place unlawfully damaged a dress, wrapper, shirt and a pair of boxer trousers valued at N5,800 property of Oliaye.

According to him, the offence is punishable under section 451 of the Criminal Code C21 Vol. 1 Laws of Delta State of Nigeria, 2006.

Esenwah further told the court that the accused persons on the same day and place also assaulted Oliaye by beating her up with fist all over her body which also caused her body harm.

He said that the offence also contravened section 351 of the Criminal Code C21 Vol.1 Laws of Delta, 2006.

Esenwah also told the court that the accused persons on the same day and place assaulted Oliaye by biting her on her right shoulder, which, again, caused her body harm.

“This offence is punishable under section 355 of the Criminal Code C21 Vol1 Laws of Delta state of Nigeria, 2006,” he said.

The accused persons, who pleaded not guilty to the charges, were granted bail in the sum of N100,000 each and a surety each in like sum by the Magistrate, Mrs Augustina Monye.

Monye also ordered that the sureties should show proof of landed property within Asaba; provide two recent passports photographs each and swear to affidavit of means.

She then adjourned the case to Nov. 17, for hearing. (NAN)
