Didier Drogba has warned Ghana that history will repeat itself if two sides meet in the final of next year’s Africa Cup of Nations.

The two countries are the favourites for January’s tournament to be held in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

The draw of the 2012 Nations Cup was be held last weekend and Drogba is hoping that Ghana and Cote’d Ivoire will make it to the the final.

Ivory Coast beat Ghana on penalties in the final of 1992 tournament and with next year’s competition the 20th anniversary of that game, the Chelsea attacker is confident history will repeat itself if the two sides meet in the final game.

“I have been dreaming about this situation (Ivory Coast-Ghana final) since the full line-up of teams for the Africa Cup of Nations was known.

“If this happens I know history will repeat it self!”

The last time the two sides met the Ivorians triumphed over Ghana and that was at the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations in Angola.

The Black Stars will play Mali, Guinea and Botswana in Group D of the tournament to be based in Franceville.

The Elephants will play Burkina Faso, Sudan and Angola in Group B, based in the Equato Guinean capital Malabo.

Morocco will face Tunisia, Niger and co-hosts Gabon in Group C, while Senegal will play in Group A along with Equatorial Guinea, Libya and Zambia.

The opening match will pit co-hosts Equatorial Guinea against Libya, who qualified for the finals against the odds, on 21 January in Bata
