Former Vice President, Alhaji  Atiku Abubakar, Wednesday visited former Military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida in his hilltop residence, Minna, Niger state.

Atiku, who also visited the former military Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar (rtd), was said to have had a private meeting with the two elder statesmen.

It was gathered that Journalists were barred from getting close to the venue of the meeting.

Alhaji Atiku, who is the People’s Democratic Party,(PDP) Presidential flag bearer in the February 25 Presidential election which All Progressives Congress, (APC) Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu was declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission,(INEC), was said to have arrived the Minna International Airport around 2 pm with some of his top aides and were driven straight to the Uphill resident of the former Military President.

Our Correspondent was told that the two leaders went into a closed-door meeting that lasted for over one hour.

Those on the entourage could be ascertained and cannot exactly say whether they were part of the private meeting or exclusive for only the two leaders.

Details of the discussion was not made public but our Correspondent reliably gathered that the visit may be an opportunity for the PDP Presidential Candidate, Atiku to brief General Babangida on the outcome of the election and seek for his opinion on the way forward

Babangida is a founding member of the Party. Atiku and the Party in the absence of General Babangida have concluded plans to challenge the election result at the Tribunal.

It would be recalled that Babangida left Nigeria for Germany in January and returned to the country only last week thereby didn’t partake in the election.

Already, General Babangida had sent a congratulatory message to APC candidate and winner, Bola Tinubu over his victory at the Polls and described the victory as “a New Dawn for Nigeria”.
