The Federal High Court sitting in Asaba, Delta State, Wednesday, dismissed a suit brought before it, seeking the disqualification of the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Chief Sheriff Oborevwori as the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the May 11 polls.

A governorship aspirant of the party, Mr Ikie Agharianovwe, had in the suit number FHC/ASB/CS/3/23 sought Oborevwori’s disqualification on the ground of presentation of false documents and prevent the party from having a candidate in the election.

Joined in the suit were the PDP as the first defendant, Oborevwori, as the second defendant and the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, as the third defendant.

Presiding Judge of the court, Justice Folashade A. Olubanjo while delivering his judgment, dismissed the suit for abuse of court process and being statute barred.

Holding that the suit had no reasonable cause of action, Olubanjo noted that it lacked merit.

He said the plaintiff was unable to prove allegations of presentation of false documents by the first defendant on behalf of the second defendant to the third defendant.
