ABUJA—SENATE Deputy Whip, Senator Hosea Ayoola Agboola yesterday stormed the plenary at the Upper chamber of the National Assembly after he was granted bail by a High Court in Oyo state.

Agboola in a statement, described as mischievous the request by concerned citizens of Oyo State for the transfer of the EFCC case against them from Justice Moshood Abass on the ground that the Judge failed to remand the accused persons in Agodi prison.

Senator Agboola, former Governor Akala and Mr. Olufemi Ademola Babalola are currently facing eleven count charges for alleged embezzlement of N25 billion while in office.

It will be recalled that Senator Agboola, PDP, Oyo North was the commissioner for Local government under Akala while Babalola is the Chairman of Pentagon Engineering Services.

The statement by Agboola through his Legislative Aide, Mr. Ayo Tokunbo, said it was not proper for the author of the paid advert published in a national newspaper, to make any comment on a matter before a competent court of law.

According to him, “A careful perusal of the said letter lends credence to the fact that the so-called concerned citizens are only concerned about their personal interest, borne-out of selfish desires to run down the characters of the persons involved in the EFCC case.They sought to cast aspersions on the persons of Otunba Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala and 2 others when they said that, “the case filed by EFCC against them has generated so much public interest and attention in view of the calibre of the personalities involved and the level of the perceived heist they are believed to have been engaged in over the years.

“When does an accuser becomes the trial judge? They wrote to the Honourable Chief Judge of Oyo State asking that the case be re-assigned from High Court No 12, Ring Road, Ibadan, presided over by Honourable Justice Moshood Abass on the ground that the Judge failed to remand the accused persons in Agodi prisons when other accused persons had always be been remanded at Agodi Prisons, Ibadan.”
