LAST Saturday, about 15 passengers in an Abuja-bound bus were molested by three of their fellow passengers at Ogere toll gate in Ogun State.
The passengers who took off smoothly from Ojota in Lagos were having a pleasurable ride in the air-conditioned bus when, like a bolt from the blues, three of their colleagues sprang up, armed with sophisticated weapons, and halted their movement.
The bewildered passengers were shocked when they were frisked from head to toe by the hoodlums who demanded for every valuable thing in their possession. Still in shock, the passengers saw the bandits make a u-turn with their bus and headed straight back, towards Lagos.
However, while the passengers were bemoaning their fate, an unknown informant quickly took up the challenge and called the Commander of the anti-crime outfit in Lagos State popularly called Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Chief Superintendent of Police, CSP, Hakeem Odumosu. While the bandits were still celebrating their success, little did they know that the RRS Commander had mobilized his men and laid ambush for them at Isheri area of Lagos State after obtaining a clear description of the stolen bus.
Crime Alert learnt that the unsuspecting bandits who were cruising leisurely were shocked when they ran into the waiting hands of the Policemen.
Confirming the incident, Lagos State Police spokesman, Samuel Jinadu said it was a commendable performance by men of the RRS and called on members of the public to always give police information without delay for such successes to be recorded.
