Enyimba FC of Aba are not happy with the cramped scheduling which could see them playing three games in eight days, potentially compromising their chances not only of finishing well in the league, but also of winning the CAF Champions League.
The Aba club have three outstanding games, and have been scheduled to play Kwara United on October 5, Rangers four days later, and Kaduna United three days later.
According to the Commissioner for Sports in Abia State, Barrister Mathew Ochiobi , “I think the people in the Nigeria Premier League are not fair to us with this congested programme. They are aware that we are in the continent and expect us to play three games under a week after arriving from Morocco.
“This is not good for us because we are representing Nigeria. I think they should have given us fair treatment”, added.
Continuing, Ochiobi said that, “with the way it is now, it seems like they do not want us to make wave in the competition. Like I said , CAF is a different ball game the same applicable to the league. In essence, we are representing Nigeria, so they could have been fair to us by giving us at least one week interval rather than 3 days interval,” he said.
