AWKA-GOVERNOR Peter Obi Monday in Awka decried the indiscriminate use of siren in Anambra State, saying that government would strictly enforce the law.
Speaking at the Women Development Centre during a stakeholders’ meeting, Obi said: “We have not relented in ensuring the security of the state. We have continued to take far-reaching decisions in our quest to secure the state and I am happy to inform you that it is working. The state has continued to witness reduction in incidents of crime prevalent in the country at this time.
“However, it has come to our notice that armed robbers, in order to evade security checks, now move in long siren-blaring convoys. “Sometimes, they even put on the uniforms of security men. To check this increasing menace, we want to restate that only those permitted by law to use siren in the state should do so.”
He warned that unauthorized persons engaging in the use of the siren would face the full weight of law.
