A rebound was recorded in the fortunes of the Nigerian capital market, last week, as the value of listed equities dipped by N29.92 billion.
In particular, equities’ value, represented by the market capitalization, appreciated by 0.39 per cent to close the week at N7.649 trillion from N7.620 trillion at which it opened.
The All-share index also rose by 0.39 per cent or 93.58 points to close at 23,952.72 points.
PZ Cussons Nigeria Plc led 39 other stocks on the gainers’ table during the week, higher than the 18 of the preceding week., with a gain of N3.50 or 10.15 per cent to close at N38.00 per share per cent, Flour Mills Nigeria Plc followed with a gain of N2.98 or 3.66 v per cent to close at N84.50 per share and Nigerian Bottling Company Plc N1.75 or 4.22 per cent to close at N43.25 per share.
Other share price gainers’ include: Conoil Plc N1.71, Oando Plc N1.60, Capital Hotel Plc N0.88, Unilever Nigeria Plc N0.87, GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Nigeria Plc N0.84, Guaranty Trust Bank Plc N0.64, Ashaka Cement Plc N0.53, among others.
On the contrary, MRS Oil Nigeria Plc led 32 other stock on the price losers’ table during the week, lower than the 49 of the preceding week , dropping by N3.53 or 4.99 per cent to close at N67.22 per share, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc followed with a loss of N2.67or 4.99 per cent to close at N50.82 per share and Dangote Cement Plc dipped by N2.20 or 1.81 per cent to close at N119.50 per share.
Nigerian Breweries Plc N2.00, Trans-nationwide Express Plc N1.96, Chemical And Allied Products Plc N1.00, UACN Property Development Company Plc N0.90, Presco Plc N0.50, Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc N0.50, Cement Company of Northern Nigeria Plc N0.46, among others.
The appreciation continued in equity trading, as a turnover of 1.157 billion shares valued at N9.65 billion was recorded in 21,712 deals, rising by 23.35 per cent from the previous week’s turnover of 937.875 million shares valued at N7.584 billion in 26,528 deals.
