ENUGU – NIGERIAN Copyright Commission, NCC, said, weekend, that the leaders of Onitsha traders union who recently obstructed its personnel from performing their duties in Anambra State would be prosecuted.
The organisation, which announced that 46 civil and criminal cases instituted against suspected pirates were at the Federal High Court and Appeal Court, warned that it would not tolerate obstruction of its personnel on lawful duties.
NCC’s Director-General, Mr. Afam Ezekude, said this in Enugu, at a briefing on the State of Copyright Enforcement in Nigeria.
He explained that two months ago, officials of the commission were in Onitsha to raid some suspected pirates operating in the market but were hindered from carrying out their duty by leaders of the market union.
Ezekude insisted that the commission would not only institute criminal charges against suspected pirates but also those who obstructed it from its duties.
