Uduaghan urged to wade into Agip, host community face-off

UGHELLI – NATIONAL Coordinator of the Association of Family of Oil and Gas Producing Communities, ASFOGAPCOM, Mr Peace Ohrerhe, has urged the Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, to wade into the dispute between Nigerian Agip Oil Company, NAOC and  host communities of Okpai Gas Plant in Ndokwa East Local Government Area of the state.

The communities under the auspices of ASFOGAPCOM, Okpai branch,  had last week, issued a14-day ultimatum to Agip to meet with it or face a showdown,  after it (communities) had allegedly written several letters to management of the company, requesting for a meeting between the two parties over the award of surveillance contract jobs.

Ohrerhe who spoke with newsmen, yesterday, said, “I want to urge the state Governor, Dr Uduaghan to intervene and call on Agip to respect their landlords to avoid a breakdown of law and order in the state.”
