ADO-EKITI— Afenifere Renewal Group, ARG, has called on aggrieved parties to the selection of Oba Ajibade Fasiku (Aladesekole 1) as the new Elekole Ekiti, to seek legal redress rather than acts that could lead to a breakdown of law and order.
The selection of the first class traditional ruler by the kingmakers is being resisted by some aggrieved members of the community led by a former head of the ruling house, Mr. Lasisi Omojola, on alleged flawed selection process.
However, a statement by Mr. Bunmi Kanbi- Awotiku, Ekiti state Coordinator of ARG, weekend, insisted the decision of the kingmakers (Omoowas), who unanimously selected Oba Ajibade Fasiku , a lawyer and a former director of Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, as the most qualified candidate for the stool, remained.
According to the statement, ‘’The commencement of the traditional rites on Friday June 24, 2011 was unprecedented, peaceful and colourful. In fact, some of our elders who had witnessed previous installations of the new Elekole confessed that it was one of the best in the history of the town.
’’ Our position is to advise any of the aggrieved parties to take the option of seeking legal recourse to fight their course rather than resulting to actions that could lead to the breach of law and order.”
