Investors trade N1.80bn worth of shares on NSE

Lagos – A total of 558.09 million shares valued at N1.80 billion were traded in 4,720 deals on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) on Tuesday.

This was against the 154.72 million shares valued at N1.43 billion traded in 4,719 deals on Monday.

The trading on the NSE was still unimpressive as the market indicators dropped further by 0.28 per cent.

The All-Share Index also went down further by 71.17 points to close at 25,533.68 from the opening index of 25,604.85.

The market capitalisation also lost N23 billion to close at N8.164 trillion against the N8.187 trillion recorded on Monday.

The Mortgage sub-sector led other sub-sectors with 405.44 million shares valued at N202.83 million traded in 49 deals.

Shares of Resort Savings &Loans drove the sub-sector with 400.1 million of the shares worth N200.05 million exchanged in three deals.

The Banking sub-sector followed with 102.31 million shares valued at N659.04 million traded in 2,566 deals.

The Insurance sub-sector came third, trading 11.32 million shares worth N7.44 million in 235 deals.

Unilever topped the price gainers with a gain of one naira to close at N29 per share.

Ashaka cement  appreciated by 95k to close at N24.47 per share while NB grew by 90k to close at N91 per share.

Mobil led the price losers’ table with a loss of N4.49 to close at N159 per share.

ETI lost 78k to close at N15 per share while Cadbury depreciated by 51k to close at N18.50 per share. (NAN)
