Indeed the past always has a way that it connects the present and future.

Good memories are always etched in a special place with loved ones especially ones that shaped us.

This is what made music CEO of Obimzy Records, Abel Egbarin to reminisce
on the great times while working with his late boss, Evangelist Roland Olubukola Olomola, popularly known as Baba Ara.

Recall that the iconic gospel musician died on July 31, 2004, after a brief illness. Abel Egbarin learned a lot in his musical journey under Baba Ara as a percussionist – performing the talking drum, Conga the bata drums and other instruments.

Baba Ara, who was the toast of many socialites, church faithfuls and politicians for decades during his time, impacted on the life story of the Obimzy Records CEO.

In memory of the late Baba Ara, Egbarin shared an emotional post on social media saying Baba Ara’s place in musical history would never be forgotten because his songs still reverberate in the hearts of many fans and faithfuls including himself who worked with him for many years.

Abel Egbarin noted that Baba Ara’s many hit songs and several albums – some of which include Sacrament, The Word, Bi A Ba Njoyin, Appreciation, Hallelujah, Master Key, Last Advice, Oko Seli series, and Igbanladogi, still leave golden memories in his heart because recording those songs are experiences he would never forget even as a young man.

Baba Ara’s demise left a void in the gospel music terrain at that time as he had inspired many to be original, focused on the message and be passionate and professional in their musical careers.

All these, according to the Obimzy Records CEO, Abel Egbarin, inspired him to set up his own outfit to support other upcoming talents.
