Grade 9 student, Dorcas Oyetunji, of Christian College has emerged winner of the Tasty Fried Chicken (TFC) schools art competition recently held in Lagos with the aim of promoting art culture in children.

The competition which saw 10 students from different schools all over Nigeria emerged as finalists, also had Teniola Anthony and Israel Aissi emerged as first and second runner up of the competition respectively.

At the finals which lasted for about an hour, the finalists were tested on their creative abilities, attention to details, among other parameters, even as they were tasked to draw a replica of the colourful caricature chicken on TFC logo.

Oyetunji, Anthony, and Aissi finally emerged winners, going home with a Playstation 4, HP Laptop, and a Bicycle respectively.

Addressing journalists after the completion, the Business Transformation Director, TFC, Adewale Sultan, said the completion was in line with the company’s transformation into the future.

He said the company was focused on enhancing the creativity of the younger generation and trying to position them in the manner that, in the next couple of years, they would see themselves as rather confident, very stable, and a critical thinker.

“They will see their society in a way and manner that will portray Nigeria as a country with the force to be reckoned with.

“There are a lot of talents in-house and we need to harness all the talents. We see a lot of Nigerians go outside the country and they perform very well, so we are proud of that.

“We also want to make our contributions towards the development of not only our organisation and community, but Nigeria as a whole,” he said.

Speaking on what stood the three top winners out, he singled out their creativity, delivery, presence, drive, and their attention to details among other things.

Speaking with journalists, Oyetunji ascribed her victory to God, her Arts teacher and her parents for motivating her and instilling confidence in her, which spurred her to victory.

Anthony and Aissi on the other hand felt no surprise being the runner ups as they acknowledge the fact that they have great belief in their abilities even before entering for the competition.

The three winners, however, appreciated TFC respectively for providing them with such a platform to express them through art, even as they look forward to a bigger partnership.
