His words: “Project Geneducation is a project designed to enlighten people on the importance and need for genotype testing.

“It is most important for the future of children and to also know how to manage and help the sickle cell warriors living in rural communities to manage it.” He said.

The founder, Dream from the Slum, added that the sensitization programme was by Ford Foundation through affiliation with Crimbsonbow Sickle Cell Initiative to train 12 communities.

Omoyele further stated that the project held at Father Sadiku Primary School, had the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Ajeromi Ifelodun Division and the Ajeromi Sports Council; and the of the Executive Chairman of Ajeromi Ifelodun Local Government, Hon. Fatai Ayoola.

On the choice of location and the categories of persons attended to, the activist noted that over 500 persons including children and adult participated in the free genotype testing.

According to the Dream from the Slum founder, “Categories of people who came for the programme are either no income and low income earners living in the inner communities of Ajegunle
“And majority that attended have never done their genotype and the reason is because of fund.

So the major reason why Dreams from the slum empowerment initiative partnered with crimbsonbow sickle cell initiative to bring this into Ajegunle is to reduce the death rate recorded as a result of sickle cell especially amongst children.” Omoyele reiterated.

According to him, “We also had other test such as BP and HIV test and yes we had a few who had High blood pressure, HIV and SS, SC.”
