It was free for all, yesterday, at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos when passengers of Air Nigeria engaged the airline staff for depriving them of traveling due to cancellation of all  flights by the airline.

Vanguard gathered that  flights to various parts of the country  were cancelled due to fuel marketers’ refusal  to supply the airline fuel.

It was learnt that the fight which broke out at the departure hall of the terminal  as a result of frustration on the part of the passengers, who could not be airlifted at the appropriate time.

Though most of the passengers were restive after waiting for several hours without being able to fly, they became combative after they were given boarding by the airline ground staff even when they knew they were not going to fly.

The aggrieved passengers at about 4pm started asking for refunds which the airline refused, it degenerated into exchange of words  that later turned into a fight.

It was learnt that the airline  cancelled its 10.45am flight from Lagos to Port Harcourt; 10: 45am from Lagos to Abuja; 1:00pm from Lagos to Enugu and 1:00pm from Lagos to Abuja, making the terminal building rowdy.

Aviation Security agents were brought in to calm  fray nerves but all to no avail,  as the fight raged on.

Our correspondent could not talk to any of the passengers as the fight happened in a restricted part of the airport.
