President Goodluck Jonathan will no longer dissolve the Federal Executive Council, FEC, tomorrow, as earlier planned. Presidential sources said the cabinet will now be dissolved on Monday, after a valedictory session when the president is expected to thank the minister for serving and particularly those who worked hard to deliver their constituencies in the April elections.
Jonathan is scheduled to travel to France tomorrow where he is expected to meet with French officials and Nigerians resident in that country.
Meanwhile, lobby for ministerial and board appointments has intensified in Abuja as various interest groups try to outdo one another in the struggle to be part of the Jonathan administration in the next four years.
For in stance, politicians from Gombe South Senatorial District have made a strong case for someone from the area to be appointed into the next government.
Those at the forefront of the agitation met top officials at the presidency where they presented the result of the April Presidential elections which indicated that the Senatorial District was responsible for well over 70 per cent of total votes for President Jonathan.
The second leg of their plea is that Gombe South has never produced a minister since 1999 when the nation returned to democracy.
