As part of its corporate social responsibility, Vita foam Nigeria Plc., a leading company in polyether and reconstituted foam products has donated some of its products for the needy and accident victims.
Orthopaedic mattresses and pillows were presented to the founder of Daniel Ogechi Akujobi Memorial Foundation (DOAM), Sotonye Akujobi, a non-governmental organization that is dedicated to the course of the less privileged and accident victims and educational support in recognition of their role as an NGO in serving humanity.
According to the marketing manager of Vita foam, Emem Karieren, the company is not only interested in making profits but also interested in the people and the Nigerian society.
“It is true that we are in business because we want to make profit but the welfare of the citizens and the society at large means a lot to us and that is why we are interested in keying in into this programme by making this donation to this foundation. This is just a beginning of a better relationship.”
Daniel Ogechi Akujobi Memorial Foundation (DOAM) was established three years ago in memory of Master Daniel Ogechi who was involved in a ghastly motor accident on his way back from school and died three days after. The Foundation is focused on alleviating the suffering of the less privileged children and youths through education and health care programmes.
While speaking at the occasion, the programme officer of the foundation, Clare Omizegba, stated that the foundation since inception has engaged in the provision of healthcare and educational support for over 2000 less privileged children and they have also been able to build a road accident emergency centre in Mowe.
“By the grace of God, the foundation has been able to construct a road accident emergency clinic with maternity facilities in it. The clinic is a 7 room mini clinic with the male ward and a female ward and an operating theatre to help road accident victims. We also renovated the maternity centre there by putting in a structure there to upgrade it. We were also to the glory of God and the support of the local government in Imo able to renovate a private health care centre in Imo state and it is fully functional now. We send in drugs that come internationally from our international donors.”
