Lagos State Government, has said that 1,019 Internal Displaced Person, IDP, from Ajegunle in Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area, LCDA, due to last year’s flooding in the area now at the state relief camp at Agbowa in Ikorodu, would be disengaged from the camp before the end of June, this year.
The state government also said that the state government had secured a permanent site in Ikorodu for the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, programme, adding that the state had never considered opting out of NYSC scheme in the wake of the ongoing debate on whether or not the scheme should be scrapped.
Also, the sum of N200 million had been earmarked for the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, for emergency and disaster management this year, admitting, however, that funding, capacity building and operational vehicles were the major challenges facing the agency.
Commissioner for Special Duties, Mr. Tola Kasali stated this at the 2011 ministerial press briefing held to commemorate the fourth year in office of Governor Babatunde Fashola.
