The first set of 21 students of Caleb University, Imota, Ikorodu, have recently acquired international licence in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and COMPTIA +, both ICT-based certification.
With this feat, these ICT-certified students have joined their colleagues from other parts of the world who have become global citizens equipped with the needed ICT skills to operate internationally either as self-employed professionals or employees of foreign multi-national companies.
The 21 students were given their certificates by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Ayodeji Olukoju, at a ceremony attended by Abimbola Olulesi representing the Registrar, Prof. S.O. Ajayi, Dean of the College of Pure and Applied Sciences (COPAS), Mr. J.I. Adeyomoye, the principal librarian, Mr. Bolaji Olaoye, General Manager of New Horizons and students from all the three colleges in the university.
In his brief address, the vice chancellor expressed profound joy on the successful accomplishments. He challenged all the other students to register immediately for the international certification programme organized by Caleb University in collaboration with New Horizon Systems Solutions International.
In his own speech, the General Manager of New Horizons, Mr. Bolaji Olaoye, said that more students performed excellently and their certificates would soon be ready fo presentation. He disclosed that a special ICT training package had been put in place for final year students which would run all through until such students proceed on NYSC scheme, and urged the students to avail themselves of this unique opportunity.
It was recalled that in 2009, the university went into collaboration with New Horizons Systems to run a training programme specially packaged to cater for the specific IT and E-Business requirements of students in the three colleges namely – College of Social and Management Sciences (COSOMAS), College of Pure and Applied Sciences (COPAS) and College of Environmental Sciences and Management (COLENSMA).
Vanguard reliably gathered that on successful completion of the international certification programme, the students will largely meet any professional IT skill requirements by foreign companies and those with entrepreneurial orientation can establish as e-business consultants. They will also be able to operate as software developers, networking consultants and data base consultants.
The successful students included Yetunde Mary Alese, Olayisade Ayoade Adeniyi, Timilehin O. Arogundade, Oladipo O. Oladimeji and Jegede Daniel Kayode.
