Mrs. Oluwapamilerinayo Ogunba a.k.a Mrs. O is one of the riding female producers in Nigeria. She is the founder & CEO of Anikeade Ologe Records aka A & O Records. She is also a fashion designer, philanthropist and entrepreneur.

She told our reporters in this exclusive interview that “there is too much negative competition in the entertainment and music industry especially among the women folk.” This wide spread negative trend, she stated, is having an adverse effect on the progress and success of the industry.

Mrs. O who also spoke about her forthcoming collaborative album and the industry in general said, “It is becoming increasingly hard making music as a budding producer or artiste when your senior and established colleagues don’t want to support the upcoming ones or advice them on best practices that will help them further their careers.

Mrs. O said that what baffles her the most is the fact that the male artists and producers find it easy to collaborate on projects while the female producers and artists don’t. She said that female producers and artists instead of lifting and promoting each other engage in backbiting and negative competition amongst themselves. They do not want to collaborate with each other because sometimes they feel everyone is a rival instead of seeing each other as colleagues and stakeholders.

“I would love to see more collaborations between female Nigerian artists and producers” She opined.

“Social media has changed the creative landscape and the industry. Every little thing gets blown out of proportion” she stated. Sometimes social media is mostly positive as it can help independent artiste find and reach their target audience. Other times it breeds negativity and envy amongst artistes” Mrs. O said.

She believes if women support each other more instead of pulling each other down, they will do better than their male counterparts.
