Ladoja loyalist killed, others injured in NURTW clash

IBADAN-ONE loyalist of the former Governor of Oyo State, Senator Rashidi Ladoja has been killed, while several others sustained various degrees of injuries after a bloody clash between members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers who are said to be sympathetic to the Peoples Democratic Party and members of Accord Party.

Vanguard gathered that the clash which took place Tuesday, was led by one of the leaders of the union who allegedly stormed Iyana Church area with 20 buses loaded with hoodlums to avenge the loss of the PDP in the area. several others were also injured in the crisis.

The hoodlums were allegedto be on the trail of a lawmaker-elect for Lagelu State Constituency on the platform of Accord Party, Mr.  Temitope Olatoye aka Sugar, who defected from the PDP and won the election.

Confirming the killing of the supporter of Ladoja, the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Olatunji Ajimuda said the command had begun investigation into the death of the man whose name was given as Demola.

During the fracas that reportedly lasted 5 hours, the office of the newly-elected lawmaker was destroyed by the rampaging union members.

However, another version of the story claimed that members of the union were the first to be attacked and that two persons died.

But the police denied knowledge of the claim, saying that the NURTW did not make any formal report of any death.
