*Akala’s govt terminates May 29 – Oyo PDP
BY OLA AJAYI
IBADAN – OYO State Governor-elect, Senator Abiola Ajimobi has warned civil servants, banks and other stakeholders in the state to be vigilant and report any hasty withdrawal from the state treasury.
He said this through the Director of Publicity of his campaign organisation, Mr. Yanju Adegbite that the warning became necessary in view of the fact that some members of the out-going ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, had been making some alleged clandestine moves to loot the treasury before their exit on May 29.
The governor-elect who won the governorship seat in the state on the platform of the Action Congress of Nigeria said: “We are by this statement issuing a form of caveat emptor to all banks and other key sectors of the Oyo State economy to be on their guard as attempts are being made to siphon the wealth of the state by agents of the exiting government,” the statement said.
It also alleged that Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala administration was organising phony and unsubstantiated seminars and training workshops abroad for some of its principals.
But, responding, the State Secretary of the PDP, Alhaji Bashiru Akanbi said the life span of the current administration terminated on May, 29 and that it would be unfair to say government activities should cease just because the opposition party had won an election.
Akanbi said, “It is unfounded. This administration terminates on May 29 and are they saying government activities should not run because they have won an election or the contractors handling projects should not be paid?
