A special Easter! That is what players and officials of Bayelsa United will enjoy , courtesy of the club’s management which early this week settled part of their sign on fees for the on going soccer season.

The management of the club in a press release signed by it’s media officer, George Ameli disclosed that the club has doled out 15 percent of the sign on fees owed the players and their coaches.

Ameli stated that the gesture is one of the steps being taken by the Chief Rumson Baribote led management of   Bayelsa United  to ensure the club returns to the elite class at the end of the on going soccer season.

According to Ameli the  payment would motivate the  players to  go all out to win all their remaining games when the second stanza of the league kicks off next week. He commended the players for putting up a five star performance in the last three months, a situation that saw the club move from the bottom of the league table to the top bracket.

“The club management is happy with the performance of the players. Early this year, Bayelsa was on the bottom of the league table and the situation was like a hopeless one. But the players rose to the occasion and decided to turn things around, even when the needed funds was not there. We are  happy with their level of cooperation and that of the Bayelsa state sports commissioner Mr. Opukiri Ere Jones.

Today, Bayelsa is in the top bracket of the league and God willing , we will be staging a return to the elite cadre at the end of the race. Kudos must also go to our sports loving governor, Chief Temipre Sylva for releasing money to the club. Now that the players are happy, there is no stopping us,” Ameli stated.

The Bayelsa United image maker noted that the club was unjustly relegated at the end of the 2010 soccer season, even as he stressed that the Yenagoa based outfit would shame her detractors by not spending more than one season in the lower division.

“Bayelsa did not deserve to go on relegation last term. The club was unjustly relegated. Those who pulled down the club will be shamed because Bayelsa wont  spend more than one season in the lower division. Bayelsa will bounce back to the top and that is where the club rightly belong.”
