Sponsors, Guinness and others involved with the organization of the high-profile international friendly match between Nigeria and Argentina’s senior teams, coming up in Abuja on Wednesday, 1st June have arrived in the Nigerian capital to check out the venue and hotels.
Led by Match Agent, Jairo Pachon, the inspectors checked out the dressing rooms, media centre, media tribune, control rooms, media work station, mainbowl pitch, camera stands, corporate suites, lighting, training pitches at the Stadium and at the FIFA Technical Centre and the Transcorp Hilton and Sheraton Hotels.
The team of Pachon, Mark Holden_Aikhomu (Control Risks Security Project Manager), Niall MacGinnis (Director of Security, Diageo), Tony Oghoghorie (Country Head of Security, Guinness Nigeria), Kevin Woods (Logistics Director, TBA), Ian Watts (Supersport Operations Manager), Haastrup Femi (Crew Leader, Supersport), Neal Rawlings (Project Director, TBA) and John Walker (Technical Director, TBA) was led round the gigantic edifice by the Stadium Manager, Mr. Victor Osunsanmi and accompanied by the NFF’s Assistant General Secretary (Marketing), Mr. Idris Adama, chief media officer Ademola Olajire and head of marketing, Alizor Chuks.
The nine-man crew and NFF officials are expected to return to the National Stadium, Abuja on Thursday to check out further details.
However, the inspectors were hugely impressed with the facilities at Nigeria’s number one football venue, which was built to host the 8th All_Africa Games in 2003. One of the inspectors said: “Surely, this is a very impressive stadium. The facilities are good and clean enough. There are only a few little details to put together”.
