ABEOKUTA – THE Peoples Democratic Party [PDP], Ogun State held a crucial meeting to review last Saturday’s National Assembly election in which the party performed poorly began to look for ways to reverse the losing streak.
Informed sources declared that the PDP was already looking at the possibility of getting members of the Peoples Party of Nigeria [PDP] and Labour Party [LP] who all were hitherto members of the party to drop their ambitions and return to the fold arguing that the PDP was a better platform to achieving victory.
The meeting, said to have been summoned by former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who is the Party’s Board of Trustees Chairman held at the Conference Room of Obasanjo Holdings Agbeloba, Abeokuta was said to have started at about 10.00am and ended at about 6.30pm.
In attendance were the Party’s Governorship Candidate in the State,Gen. Adetunji Olurin(Rtd), his running mate, Comrade Tunde Oladunjoye, Senator Jubril Martins Kuye, Alhaji Buruji Kasham, the party Chairman Chief Dayo Soremi and many other party stalwarts.
A chieftain of the party said “we met to review the last Saturday’s election, map strategizes and also plan out to manage the fallout.
“We [PDP] also conceded the possibility of merging with the Labour Party (LP) and the People’s Party of Nigeria [PPN]”.
The Chairman of Publicity Committee of General Adetunji Olurin Campaign Organisation, Alhaji Lai Labode, who also spoke to newsmen said “the election has come and gone, but all the same, we have learnt some few lessons that is why the meeting is currently going on.
“We are going back to the drawing board, because we have learnt few lessons from excise(election). We know that there is some schemes within the PDP family as a result of that division, we all saw what happened last Saturday, hope we will do better in the next elections, because the people now know the real PDP and PPN”.
