Angry reactions have continued to trail the recent seizure by the police, of assorted arms and ammunition from a member of the Imo State House of Assembly.

The suspect was nabbed for allegedly importing assorted types of weapons, including AK 47 rifles, rocket launchers, dynamites and live ammunition.

Reacting to the development in a telephone interview, Nollywood star, Mr. Charles Awurum, expressed regret that “those angling to lead us are very desperate and want to hoist themselves on the rest of us through the force of arms”.

His words: “Election in a democracy is a contest but definitely not a military combat. It is a game played by brothers and sisters. We all stand to lose if either the contestants or voters are killed in the process of electioneering”, Awurum reasoned.

Mazi Damian Nze, who expressed worry over the detonation of a dynamite at Iho, Ikeduru local council area during the botched parliamentary poll, also appealed passionately to Imo people to “resist every ploy by desperate politicians to destroy the peace in the state”.
