A Lagos-based interior decorator cum events manager, Mrs. Roseline Alufa told Vanguard Homes & Property that arranging the furniture properly ensures that the room area is efficiently used. According to her, a fine furniture arrangement can also magnify a piece of furniture. Mrs. Alufa however stated that figuring out the best method to utilise space and create a comfortable atmosphere can be tasking. But this can be accomplished with planning and creativity.

Before one thinks of moving anything, one has to think and decide what the focal point of the living room is going to be. She insists that you should focus efforts on location or item, advising that one should base his or her furniture arrangement on that focal point.

“Chairs should be situated within a space of about eight feet of each other for easy movement. You have to position a table in such a way that it is easy for everyone to access. Keep a light source near the seating area or location. Coffee tables should have a space of about 14 to 18 inches from the sitting area. Side tables should be at least as tall as the arm of the chairs to make serving simple and discourage liquid spills. When arranging furniture, make sure you give enough space to move around the room.
