Jalingo -The Taraba State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) Dr. Abba-Kyari Sadiq has said that all materials, both sensitive and non-sensitive, needed for the 2011 General Elections have arrived in Jalingo and have been dispatched to all local governments areas in the state.
Speaking in Jalingo, yesterday, the Commissioner pointed out that non-sensitive materials including cubicles, ballot boxes, ten brand new additional vehicles to facilitate the movement of men and material, comprehensive voters’ registers, and field operation guidelines for the conduct of the three elections have been received and distributed to all the 16 local government areas of the state.
All sensitive material such as the ballot papers have also been received and deposited at the Central Bank of Nigeria, Jalingo, he further explained.
He said that about 377 collation officers would be used for the April 2 National Assembly Elections across the 168 registration areas while 185 officers would be used for the April 9 Presidential polls and 336 collation officers would be for the April 16 Gubernatorial and State Assembly elections.
Similarly, he said that corps members who are to serve as presiding officers at all polling stations have been adequately trained and are ready for the exercise.
