LAGOS – Ahead of April polls, youths under the aegis of Youths Earnestly Ask for Good Governance, YEAGGO, have advised Nigerian electorate to demand for each party’s programmes and how they will be implemented before casting their votes in the coming polls.
This came even as it pledged unflinching support for Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State who they said has shown capacity that he can deliver on electioneering promises to the electorate.
The youths also urged Fashola and the striking doctors in the state-owned health institutions to settle their differences and call-off the industrial action immediately in the best interest of the public.
Co-ordinator of the group, Animashaun Akeem, while briefing the media, on Tuesday, in Ikeja, Lagos, said, “we bear testimony to the fact the administration of Governor Fashola has performed excellently well which informed our resolve to mobilise youths from 57 local governments in the state for re-election of an achiever.”
According to the group, voters must discountenance jamboree campaigns without substance. “We are worried at the manner of various political jamborees and explosions going on in the name of campaigns by certain cliques of our political class. We urge the electorate to insist on party manifestoes and programmes before they pledge their support for any candidate or party.”
