Lagos Linetrale lifts Majekudonmi Cup

IT was vintage polo when the Lagos Linetrale took on their Kaduna 5th Chukker counterparts in the final of the 2011 Majekodunmi Cup at the Lagos Polo club on Sunday.

The two teams were equally matched and as predicted by the captain of the Lagos Polo club, the players put in their all in this final match that witnessed a full house which included the general manager of communication giants, MTN Nigeria, Kola Oyeyemi, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Alhaji Makarfi among other dignitaries.

The Lagos Linetrale won the battle eventually to the delight of their teeming fans.

By their victory over the hard-fighting Kaduna side, the Lagos team also bagged the Independence Cup.

It was also a success story for another Lagos club, the Lagos Tavia Trojans who defeated Kano Trojans to lift the Lagos Open Cup.

In a post victory interview, captain of Lagos Lintrale club, Mustapha Fasinro said winning the Majekodunmi Cup was “a lifetime achievement. “It’s exciting. It is the ultimate, the biggest trophy in Nigeria Polo and the desire of every polo player in this country.”
