….seeks refund of N.6m spent for upkeep
Billiri -An aggrieved father in Gombe State has dragged his son before a Billiri Civil Area Court for neglect.
The father, Mr Biryam Bappa, of Pamadu village in Shongom Local Government Area of Gombe State, is demanding the refund of N600,000 he spent on his son’s education and upbringing.
Bappa told the court on Wednesday that his son, Lewi Biryam, had abandoned him and the entire members of his family.
The plaintiff, who was led in evidence by his counsel, Mr Emma Nweke, narrated to the court how he had fulfilled his parental obligations by training his son from nursery school to tertiary institution.
He, however, said that on completion of his studies and securing a job, the son never catered for him financially or otherwise.
Bappa further alleged that Lewi got married without introducing his wife to him (his father) and had also consistently failed to attend family meetings.
“I am, therefore, seeking from him, a refund of N600,000, being what I spent on his education and general up-binging from childhood to adulthood,” he said.
In his testimony, however, the son, who is a staff of Shongom Local Government Area, confirmed that his father took good care of him as a child.
Biryam said that no amount of money could serve as adequate compensation for his father’s care
