ABUJA-An Abuja High Court yesterday granted the EFCC fresh leave to arraign five new accused persons  in connection with the $180 million Halliburton bribery scam.

This came on the heels of the out-of-court settlement of the case, which was instituted by the anti-graft commission against former U.S. Vice President, Dick Cheney, and seven others.

The Judge, Justice Abubakar Umar, gave the EFCC up till Wednesday, March 9, to arraign Alhaji Ibrahim Aliyu and Mohammed Bakari of  Urban Shelter Ltd. Others to be arraigned are the owners of Intercellular Nigeria Ltd, Sherwood Petroleum Ltd and Tri-Star Investment Ltd.
The court granted the leave following a prayer by Godwin Obla, counsel to the EFCC. Chief Simon Ameh, SAN, Counsel to the accused, did not object to the prayers of the EFCC. The accused are facing a nine-count charge bordering on corruption and bribery.
