Alleged shooting: Group to boycoot Akala’s rally

BY OLA AJAYI

IBADAN – FOLLOWING alleged shooting of some people in Iseyin last Friday by people perceived to be loyalists of Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala, a group within the town has mobilized other residents of the town to shun the rally by the governor, which is fixed for today.

The association under the aegis of Ebedi Club 2010, said the attack on members of the Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, was unacceptable, adding that the government has been using Armoured Personnel Carrier, APC, to harass them in the town ahead of the rally.

The call for the boycott of the rally was made by  Chairman of the club, Alhaji Yinusa Azeez, in a statement, yesterday.

But Moronkola Thomas, Director of Media, Akala Campaign Organisation, dismissed the call, alleging that it was masterminded by the opposition party, the Action Congress of Nigeria.
