EDO State Governor, Mr Adams Oshiomhole said, weekend, that the April 2011 elections in the state was very crucial to him as he wanted a state House of Assembly that could give him legislative backing in his bid to sustain the tempo of development in the state.
“Although I am not contesting now until next year, this year’s election is crucial to me if I will be able to sustain the execution of the projects that we have embarked upon across the state.
“I certainly will need a House of Assembly that can perceive that politics is about people and give us the necessary legislative support without which the executive cannot function,” he added.
Governor Oshiomhole, who spoke at the Palace of the Otaru of Auchi, weekend, on his campaign train to Edo North Senatorial District, said that the state also needed members of the National Assembly, who would not take orders from those from Afemai land, but whose views and positions reflect the collective will of the Edo people.
Addressing the crowd that gathered at the Auchi stadium during the rally, the governor said that the issue at stake in the forth coming election was that of development, insisting ”we should move away from politics of individuals to that of development.”
Saying that he was proud of his achievement since his two years in office, he asked the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to tell the people what they achieved when they held the reins of office in the state for 12 years.
He advised youths in the state not to allow themselves to be used for thuggery and other electoral vices, saying the future of the nation depended on them.
