The Presbyterian Church of Nigeria has announced the lifting of the suspension of the Deputy Governor of Ebonyi State, Prof. Chigozie Ogbu and 11 other members of the Church who were affected following the misunderstanding between the Church and its officers in Mid East Synod.

The other members are Engr. Paul Okorie, Commissioner for Works in Ebonyi State, Rev. Eze Nwonu Eze, Rev. Ibiam Egwu Ukeni, Rev. Nzie Nsi Eke, Rev. Dr. Amarachi N. Ukoma, Rev. Sunday D. Amoramor, Rev. Michael O. Ani, Rev. Aka Aka Ibiam, Elder C. I. Ewa, Elder Jombo Ukoma and Mr. Odicha Ude.

The decision to lift the suspension was taken at an emergency meeting of the General Assembly Executive Committee (GAEC) which was called in an effort to demonstrate Christian love and forgiveness.

In a statement, the Director of Information and Public Affairs, Rev. Kalu Eme said the decision was taken following the Church’s resolve to make peace and reconcile with all parties in line with the Christian teaching of brotherly love.

He said the Church was making arrangements to hold a reconciliation service to mark the end of the misunderstanding in Mid East Synod.
